Photography, Yoga, etc..

I am so looking forward to my Photography class! Our cameras were issued out, contract by contract, today and I'm way excited to start taking pictures! I have so many ideas of what I want to capture... Nature, family, and Evan's tattoo :). We were given a 24 roll of black and white film and were assigned to take pictures of whatever we wanted, as long as it didn't involve minors or government buildings or cliche locations (sunsets, railroad tracks, statues, fountains, and such).
Yoga is finally starting to pick up, too. We did our "sun salutation" stretches and next monday, we're going to be working on a 1 mile run/walk. Kind of intimidating considering I'm completely out of shape and I can barely execute a girly ("modified") push up. Oh well, that's why I'm taking the class, right? To improve my stretchy skills!
Anyway, today felt like it went on forever. I have to re-read Beowulf for my British Literature class (I read it in my English class senior year of highschool AND I've seen the movie), I had to run to the Bursar's office after class to rent out my 35MM camera, then run back to my car, pick up my yoga gear and change in the nearest restroom. After yoga, photography. After photography, we had to attend a mandatory Art Exhibit featuring AMAZING works by LCC students. I took Art Appreciation last year where we had to attend this shows, and it never fails to find an AMAZING work of art. Just breathtakingly beautiful and amazing and unique... Just wonderful!
So, now my homework assignment; to take pictures of WHATEVER I want. This is going to be interesting.

Bride Wars

Just saw Bride wars; AMAZING movie. Anne Hathaway is just incapable of disappointing me! I really hated that ending, though. Anyway, tonight was pretty eventful. I picked up Sasha and we went straight to the planned 7:35 showing of Bride Wars. Like always, we arrive on "Laredo-time", 5 minutes before the showing. The line at Hollywood theaters was to the street and I was in no mood to arrive late and completely miss 20 minutes worth of previews! So, we decide to get tickets for the 9:10 showing and grab dinner. We buy our tickets and headed over to Whataburger. Sasha knew the cashier and she hooked us both up with free chicken strips. Sweet. By the time we finished eating, it was time for the movie. We find our seats and prepare ourselves for the movie. Half way through the movie, I notice a woman's laugh... it wasn't any normal laugh, let me tell you. At the end of every laugh/giggle she inhaled a great deal. It was pretty much the most annoying thing I've ever heard. I though my laugh was ridiculously high-pitched and weird. But this woman's laugh... took the cake in annoying laughs! After the movie, Sasha and I headed over to Starbucks. We weren't there for long because for some reason it was middle school night and the coffee joint was crawling was 14 year olds. And on that note, we ended our night there. I think the best feeling is coming home to my niece, Alyssa. I don't know why, but just knowing that she's in my room, watching George Lopez reruns makes me really really happy. She's great. I never understood what "wise beyond her years" meant, until I really got to know Alyssa. Anywho, my phone is pretty amazing, btw. Just thought I'd add that in there.

Hello, iPhone!

I feel so hip, so cool! I'm posting from my brand spanking new iPhone! This touch keypad is going to be really difficult to get used to, but damn it, I don't care! Haha, finally I feel like I belong to my generation. I don't feel like an old-timer with my ancient flip phone. Anyway,I've got some apps to download so I'll shall be back to update you on my progress!

It's Friday!

Finally, it's the end of the first week of school! I had just one class (British Literature) today, saw about 5 accidents on the way to school. NOBODY knows how to drive in this town! We watched a video about the 16th century for the whole period, called my mom when I was driving back to let her know I was on my way home. She told me she was with my grandparents. Baaad news. My grandma had been sick for the past couple of weeks and now she has water collecting her lungs. My grandpa got his blood pressure checked this morning and its through-the-roof high. So, both my grandparents are getting checked into the hospital today just to make sure everything's ok. I had a bit of a panic attack when I was driving so I called Steven and he calmed me down. Ah, nothing like a slap of reality from your older brother. "People die, Margaret. Get used to it." I know my grandparents are strong, so I'm trying not to freak out as much. Anyway, so that was my morning.
Evan gets out of work at 3 today. Hopefully he'll come over right after he gets out. I really need to see him....

Saturday I'm hoping to hang out with Sasha and watch Bride Wars, she's been texting me like crazy asking when we're ever going to hang out. So, yeah. Those are my plans so far. That's it for now, I guess. Lunch-time.

Exhausted

I don't think I've ever felt so tired before. I have to start reading Beowulf for my British Lit. class. I don't really want to because I've read it in high school AND I've seen the movie! My yoga class is getting interesting. We took our measurements and got our blood pressure checked, we stretched (I'm definitely out-of-shape), and I learned that pear-shaped women are healthier than women that are apple-shaped (the fat stored in the torso area is more detrimental than that stored in the hips). My butt = more than just extra cushion! Anyway, hearing that made my day. Photography class was fun. We took pictures using pinwheels (I think that's what they're called). They're tin, circular cans with a small hole on the outside, covered with black tape. A blank picture is tape to the inside, across from the hole. We went outside and took pictures of buildings, trees, etc., the tin can is placed on the ground in front of the picture and you untape the hole for for 30 seconds then tape it back up, then we took it back inside and used all those funky chemicals you see in dark rooms to develop them. It was really interesting to see them actually develop into real black and white pictures. We did that for about two hours and that was my day. By the time I got home, I was dragging my feet. I'd been up since 8:30 and I didn't get home until about 5. Before I can get settled, Evan called me. We hang out for a bit, he took me out to eat, and then he dropped me off. When I got into my room, I fell right into my bed. I couldn't manage staying awake for another hour. I hate when that happens, because I always end up here, on the computer, at 2 in the morning. I have class at 9:3o tomorrow, so I should probably try getting back to sleep, but I know I'm just going to end up tossing and turning thinking about the things that went wrong today and the things that I want to happen tomorrow. And then all that thinking, leads to an anxiety attack and I'm up for another 3 hours, watching infomercials and reruns of shows I've never watched before. Oh well, tomorrow is Thursday. Another day closer to the weekend. It's been so hard to get used to the routine of school again. Waking up early. Driving. Stupid classes with stupid people. Driving home. Eating. Sleeping. And this cold weather isn't helping either. I can't wait for Spring. I hate Winter; I hate numb hands, having a cold nose, wearing jackets, cold toes, the heater in my car not working, not having Evan to cuddle with.
Fuck! I wish it was Friday already.

Tool Academy

I just HAVE to write about this show. So, last night I watched the first episode of VH1's Tool Academy. First off, I think the show should be called DOUCHEBAGS. These guys... wow. These guys are the epitome of assholes. One dude's name is M.E.G.A., which stands for: Makes Every Girl Aroused.. SERIOUSLY? Another one is named MatsuFLEX.. No,really.. SERIOUSLY?!?!

Anyway, the guys are interviewed, thinking they're going to be competing for the title of "Mr. Awesome". They are asked about their dating techniques and their relationship status. They all admitted to having long-term girlfriends, but most of them bragged about bringing home random women from clubs and having sex with them, without their girlfriends' knowledge. One guy said he had a woman for every day of the week and his girlfriend was his "bottom bitch". Another douche claimed he had his girlfriend "trained"; trained to do the dishes, trained to do laundry, and trained to clean his apartment. The worst one, IMO, was when they showed a clip of one girlfriend saying that she wanted her jackass boyfriend to settle down and commit. Then, they cut away to her boyfriend, the first thing he says: "I'm not gonna settle down. I can't commit!" LOL So, basically these guys are trying to prove to themselves and their girlfriends that they are not total tools. These guys suck at life, this challenge isn't going to prove anything. Just how disrespectful they are to women and how conceited they are.
Anyway, what I'm getting at is shows like this make me so appreciative for what I have in my life, a wonderful boyfriend. Evan doesn't care about what he looks like or what he wears. He doesn't have to look in the mirror every 5 minutes or gel his hair to sculpted perfection. He lets me know every single day how much he cares about me and how much I mean to him. Evan makes me feel like such a special girl, it's been amazing having him in my life. We do have our fights, but we usually get over them in 10 minutes or less. We have the most beautiful kind of relationship. We can joke around like the best of friends, trust each other like the perfect boyfriend and girlfriend, and communicate as if we we've known each other our whole lives.
I know I am so incredibly lucky to have found Evan. I've known from the very beginning of our relationship that we were destined for greatness. :)

Another thing that's been on my mind is the recent "scandal" of Oprah's weight gain. The media/tabloids have made the biggest hoopla, circus show out of this, it's just plain stupid. And the fact that Oprah is APOLOGIZING for her weight gain is what makes it so much more worse. Instead of encouraging women to be happy with their weight and just eat healthy, she's making normal women feel completely guilty about themselves and their bodies. Oprah should forget about what she looks like and just worry about her health. She just seems so pathetic, crying about gaining weight. I'm sorry, Oprah, but crying isn't going to fix your yo-yo dieting habits. How about you exercise and eat healthy, or just get gastric bypass surgery...? The hell with it, we all know you can afford it.

My rant is over. Thanks for reading.

Guys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses.

Really busy day today. Woke up late, practically flew to class. Biology (TR) should be alright, my professor seems really nice. He has a raspy, smoker's voice "condition", which is kind of odd. He attached a mini microphone/voice amplifier to his shirt, but it doesn't sound like it helps. He sounded like he was whispering all class period long. After Biology lecture, I have my Bio Lab with the same professor, another hour and a half of whispering. Anyway, after that I had an hour and 45 minutes of nothing and I was STARVING. I went to the student center, picked up a turkey sandwich, ate by myself until Mariel saw me and joined me. We were talking about industrials and tragus piercings when I turn to the left and see someone awfully familiar looking walking passed me.... my brother, Steven! :) He was waiting for his girlfriend to get out of class and joined in in our conversation. "Ay, you guys look so much alike! Just like twins!" Mariel is crazy. So, yeah, Mariel took off which left Steven to lecture me on my classes and encouraged me not to quit or slack off. Two o'clock came rolling around and I headed for my Fundamentals of Math II class. I'm taking it with the same professor I took FOM I with, so I pretty much know what to expect from, him/the class. As I'm getting out of class, I called my mom and she reminded me of my Dr's appointment. I had time to kill, so I went by my childhood HEB, which is caddy corner to my Dr's office. Walking around that store was like taking a walk down memory lane. Good memories of my mom, my brother, and I lie there within that place; hanging out at the mini-arcade with my brother until my mom finishes shopping, picking up Chinese food with Steven, and spending almost every Saturday afternoon there. Everything was just a flashback of me clinging onto my mom, asking questions and making comments. Anyway, that was kinda stupid. Around 3:15, I headed over to my 3:30 appt. I am absolutely blind without my contacts. I hate when the Doctor dilates my pupils (I look like a cat on speed). My vision didn't change. I'm getting new glasses in two weeks! I needed to stop by Target to pick up my supplies for my Yoga class. They had an absolute plethora of yoga accessories. Slings, bags, grip socks.... it was crazy. I picked up what I needed; mat, socks, and the mat sling and headed home.
I had a ridiculously busy day and I need some sleep, pronto.

*Upon viewing my yoga mat* My Dad: "What the hell is that? A magic carpet?"
